We will have our own private boat to find Humpback and Killer Whales, seals, and other marine mammals. These custom made hard bottom pontoon boats are the best for wildlife photography. They are very stable with windows that open in giving us the opportunity to photograph in any weather.
We will fly to Pack Creek to photograph the largest of the grizzly bears, the Alaskan Brown Bear. We fill our cards with images that will astound our friends, family, and other photographers.
But wait, there’s more! Bald Eagles pose on every tree while some soar above our heads. We will hike to the Mendenhall Glacier where photo opportunities abound. Evening shoots for whales and sunsets from the water and from the top of Mount Roberts leave us breathless and our images prove that this is an amazing place.
We’re not done yet! A special cruise up Tracy Arm Fjords where we almost touch the ice floes. We are so close to calving glaciers we can hear them! The Tracy Arm Fjords provide some of the most amazing scenery in all of Alaska and we are there. Seals and their pups have hauled out on the ice floes and we have ample opportunity to get great images.
Jim is eager to share his knowledge from 30 years as a professional wildlife photographer and his countless trips to Alaska. He will teach his 3 Essentials to Making Great Images, and how to get those stunning photos of wildlife while using ‘low impact field techniques’ and being ‘In The Rhythm”™.
You will learn:
How to stay safe around wildlife
How to get sharp images photographing from a boat
How to expose for active wildlife and quiet scenics
How to anticipate what your subject will do and where it will go
How to find the best locations and angles for stunning images
Camera settings the pros use and why
